Dexter
While the finale of Dexter received mixed reviews, this long running show has still got its fair share of devotees, and of course, the macabre theme of serial killers really lends itself to Halloween pretty well. While many people may consider going as Dexter himself, there are plenty of other popular (and hated) characters to choose from, though there may be some difficulty in that very few of the show's key players had particularly iconic looks that would be instantly recognizable to other party guests. If you don't mind a costume you may have to explain however, Dexter may be a good place to look for ideas.
Game of Thrones
There are probably no other TV shows, past or present, with a larger cast of memorable and recognizable characters than fantasy hit Game of Thrones. Whether you want to be a mother of dragons, a knight, a king, or a weird snow monster thing, there is loads you can do with this show as your inspiration. Of course, the costumes are pretty elaborate so this is really only one to try if you are very handy with a sewing machine or planning to hire an outfit – where you might be able to channel Dexter using stuff from your own wardrobe and some props, Jamie Lannister might be tricky! If you want to go all out though, this is a good show to try it with.
Breaking Bad
As probably the most talked about show of the year, and with its finale still fresh in people's minds, there is no doubt that this Halloween's party tents and clubs will see a fair share of Heisenburg hats and meth lab suits. Of course, clothes played an important part in the shows design so even if you want to do something a little different and come as another well known character like Gus, Saul or Jane it should be easy to pull together a look that is identifiable. Many characters always wore the same colors or had key color palettes at different points in their development, making it far easier to pull together an outfit that is simple but clearly of the character, providing you throw in a few props so you don't look like you are in regular dress (a baggy of blue candy, perhaps?).
