We’ve known for a while now that director Peter Berg (The Rundown, The Kingdom) would be taking the unlikeliest of routes when he took the popular board game, Battleship, and turned it into a movie. Instead of just going with a movie about a bunch of ships doing battle in the middle of the ocean, it was decided to add a little spice in the form of an alien invasion.

In the movie, Naval officers based on the USS John Paul Jones (named for the man who’s getting his own slightly twisted movie titled Here There Be Monsters) discover a strange craft that turns out to be aliens who are attempting to build a power source from the Earth’s oceans...
