Preparing for a new baby is a fun and exciting time, and it can be great for any mum to be to have a chance to celebrate with her closest friends and family, where she can be spoiled a little before the responsibilities of motherhood take over her life! Of course, if anybody knows how to throw beautiful baby showers, it's those A-list stars!
With celebrity babies being big news, famous moms can have a lot of attention on them as they prepare to give birth. Here are some of the ways friends of the stars have helped them to relax and celebrate before welcoming their babies into the world:
Molly Sims' Personalised Garden Party
Supermodel Molly Sims worked with friends and event planners to put together a lavish garden party for her shower. She was keen to avoid, in her own words “torturing” her friends with cheesy shower games, but wanted to add personal touches that would be meaningful both to her guests and to her child. She had the friends in attendance write letters for her child to read (after a few years of course – even supermodel babies aren't born with the ability to read!), and add charms to a special commemorative piece of jewellery.
January Jones' Tropical Beach Party
X-Men and Mad Men star January Jones threw her shower on the beach in Malibu. The casual mood of this party meant that guests (including other celebrities like her TV co-star Christina Hendricks) could enjoy the sunshine and stroll on the beach rather than taking part in any forced activities, and January herself got into the beach side feel with a stunning tropical style maternity gown.
Victoria Beckham's Pink Party
Famous for being desperate for a daughter after becoming mother to three sons, Victoria Beckham was so thrilled to learn that her fourth child, Harper Seven, was going to be a girl that she insisted on a pink theme for her shower. Hosted at the exclusive Butterfly Bar in Hollywood by close friends of Victoria, including Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, the party included tastefully pink decorations, pink cake and pink flowers, along with an old fashioned British tea party theme. Guests were told that any gifts they brought for Victoria and baby Harper had to be pink too, in keeping with the theme!
Sheryl Crow's Green Party
No, she didn't just take Victoria Beckham's pink idea and change everything to green! "Sheryl Crowe is known for her interest in the environment and in green issues, and she made sure her own baby shower was kind to the environment by insisting that everything used there was recyclable, that the food and wine were all organically farmed, and that the gifts given both to her and to her guests as a thank you for attending were environmentally friendly, for example tree saplings to plant.
Even if you don't have a celebrity's budget for your own shower, or a shower you're throwing for a friend, there are plenty of cool ideas from these stars that can easily be incorporated into the event. Whether it's picking a theme like Victoria, creating fun personal tokens like Molly, showing your values like Cheryl or simply letting everyone relax somewhere beautiful like January, these stars offer some great inspiration for anyone planning a shower!
