In a unique communications partnership, The Independent Game Developers' Association (TIGA) and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme which will explore the future of the gaming industry. It will tell the story of a thriving industry that given the right support and encouragement at home, could see the UK reach its full potential on the global stage. ITN Productions will also be TIGA's official media partner for the prestigious 2016 TIGA Games Industry Awards.
The aim is to share knowledge and heighten awareness among policy makers, politicians and the wider public about the significant role that the gaming sector plays in the strength of the UK economy. Not only this, but also to challenge & change perceptions, show the prospect of a satisfying career in a dynamic and alluring sector and give the sector the exposure & recognition that it deserves.
Changing the Game will be an in-depth, online programme providing a unique platform to stimulate debate. It will champion success, expertise and achievement, celebrate innovation and encourage the exchange of ideas. The news-style piece will combine key interviews and news-style reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations in the gaming industry.
Premiered at the TIGA Awards in mid-November, Changing the Game will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring TIGA members, professional partners, influential individuals within government, parliament and industry, as well as journalists, writers and bloggers.
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: 'ITN Productions is delighted to be partnering with TIGA, to examine the expertise and skill that exists in the games industry and understand the support required from government to ensure that this dynamic industry continues to flourish in the UK.'
'We're excited to embark on this project and engage with key organisations and people dedicated to shaping the future of the games industry.'
Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO says: 'TIGA's focus is on strengthening the games development sector. Our partnership with ITN Productions will enable us to demonstrate the economic potential of the sector, articulate our policy agenda to government and further our engagement with key Ministers and MPs.'
'Our alliance with ITN Productions will also enable us to highlight excellent games studios, illustrate innovation in the video games industry and showcase best practice in higher education. I am delighted that ITN Productions will be TIGA's media partner for the 2016 TIGA Games Industry Awards and we look forward to working with ITN Productions over the months and years ahead.'
